PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder type linear motor capable of increasing the degree of freedom in design while reducing the manufacturing cost and iron loss of an armature core. SOLUTION: An armature core 11 is constituted of first through sixth split cores 15-25 being combined sequentially in the circumferential direction of a permanent magnet magnetic pole member 1. 3n annular magnetic pole parts 11b of the armature core 11 are constituted by arranging n annular magnetic pole parts connected with the parts 15b and 21b of first and fourth split cores 15 and 21 applied with an exciting winding, n annular magnetic pole parts connected with the parts 17b and 23b of second and fifth split cores 17 and 23 applied with an exciting winding, and n annular magnetic pole parts connected with the parts 19b and 25b of third and sixth split cores 19 and 25 applied with an exciting winding alternately and sequentially.
