PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nano scale structure almost orientated with the usage of a process suitable for commercialization. SOLUTION: This method for producing a monomolecular film 530 patterned on a substrate includes a step for adjusting an organic molecule having a self-organizing characteristic, a step for applying the organic molecule to an alignment surface 310, a step for applying the alignment surface 310 to a target substrate 570, a step for separating the alignment surface, and a step for leaving a pattern wherein the organic molecule is orientated on the substrate 570.
