PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch pattern generating apparatus capable of generating a pitch pattern with which a more natural speech can be synthesized. SOLUTION: The pitch pattern generating apparatus 10, which generates the pitch pattern to be used for speech synthesis by using language information obtained by analyzing a text, includes: a pitch pattern candidate generating means 11 for generating a pitch pattern candidate based upon the language information; and a substituting means 13 for generating a pitch pattern by substituting an alternative pattern different from the pattern of the pitch pattern candidate for a substitution section being a portion of the pitch pattern candidate generated by the pitch pattern candidate generating means 11.
