PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a separation between a high voltage and a low voltage in a video display device for controlling a convergence voltage of an electrode of an electron gun in a cathode ray tube. SOLUTION: The video display device for controlling a convergence voltage of an electrode of an electron gun in a cathode ray tube comprises a means by which a control signal indicating a necessary amount of the convergence voltage is generated, a high voltage source, a pair of transistors forming a differential amplifier, and an amplifier including a pair of transistors in Darlington construction connected between outputs of a pair of transistors. A control electrode of either transistor of the pair of transistors forming the differential amplifier receives a control signal, a first resistor, a light receiving circuit and a second resistor being connected in series in this order between the control electrode of either transistor and the high voltage source, a light emitting element being connected to a main current conducting path of either transistor of the pair of transistors in Darlington construction, and the convergence voltage being output from a connection point between the first resistor and the light receiving circuit.
