PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating cloth properties, with which when a cloth formed by sewing/knitting is elongated with making an approximation with hands, feet, body, etc., pressing force of the cloth and elongation properties of the cloth are measured and a method for designing clothes. SOLUTION: The apparatus for evaluating cloth properties comprises a lay figure to which a cloth formed by sewing/knitting is attached and which is expanded with approximating the shape of the body, a control part for expansion power for expanding the lay figure and a pressure sensor and a pressure measurement part which are previously arranged at the predetermined position of the lay figure.
