<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic SiC obtained from waste silicon sludge and having a high purity and/or a high quality and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing SiC is comprised that the waste silicon sludge containing Fe element and carbon black are mixed, that the mixture is heated to 1,000°C and that electricity is directly conducted at the electric current of 5-30 A.
