<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupling device which is applicable to a substrate-less optical waveguide and is capable of realizing a flexible optical wiring structure formed of a substrate-less film-like optical waveguide, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A mounting substrate 3 is held by guide holes 2 and a sub-mount 1 for the mounting substrate, having a shallow concave part fitted to the outward form of the mounting substrate 3. The mounting substrate 3 is provided with recessed parts 4 for fitting and recessed parts 5 for mounting optical components, and an optical component array 7 is mounted at high precision of approximately±2μm with respect to the recessed parts 4. A waveguide sheet 13 is held by an optical waveguide sub-mount 11 with guide pins 12 and is formed with projected parts 14 for engagement. The mount substrate 3 and the waveguide sheet 13 are preliminarily aligned by the engagement between the guide holes 2 and the guide pins 12, and then are positioned more precisely by the engagement between the recessed parts 4 and the projected part 14 for engagement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
