MANUFACTURING METHOD OF PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plastic optical fiber in which air bubbles are not contained. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of a plastic optical fiber, a clad pipe is produced from PVDF. An outer core made from PMMA is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the clad pipe. A preform 15 is produced by forming an inner core with an interface gel polymerization method so that a hollow part 21 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer core. The preform 15 is set to production equipment 80 through an adapter 81. The inside of the hollow part 21 is depressurized to (atmospheric pressure 1.0 kPa) with a depressurized line 90. The preform 15 is put into a heating furnace 84 having temperature distribution of 60 to 215°C.
