PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing magenta toner which is capable of minutely dispersing magenta pigment into polymerizable monomers and controlling the viscosity rise upon the dispersion, and thereby, permits uniform dispersion of magenta pigment and superior image density. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing magenta toner comprises a process A of preparing a polymerizable monomer composition, containing at least the polymerizable monomers and magenta pigment and a process B of polymerizing the polymerizable monomer composition in an aqueous dispersion medium and preparing colored polymer particles. Therein, the process A contains a pigment dispersion process A1 consisting of a process 1 of preparing a mixed liquid that contains polymerizable monomers, magenta pigment and an aluminum base coupling agent and has a viscosity at 25°C of 70 to 350 mPa s and a process 2 of supplying the mixed liquid to a media-type dispersion machine, minutely dispersing the magenta pigment by means of the media type dispersion machine and preparing a dispersion liquid having a viscosity at 25°C of 400 to 1,500 mPa s.
