PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric element, high in performance and reduced in the deterioration of performance due to temperature change, and to provide the manufacturing method thereof and a thermoelectric module. SOLUTION: An insulating lower substrate on one surface of which a lower electrode is formed, and an insulating upper substrate on one surface of which an upper electrode is formed, are arranged so that the lower electrode is opposed to the upper electrode. A plurality of thermoelectric elements 1, in which the sintered body 2a of a first thermoelectric material and the sintered body 3a of a second thermoelectric material are connected through solder 4, are produced and arranged between the lower electrode and the upper electrode so that the sintered body 2a and the sintered body 3a are connected in series. In this case, the sintered body 2a of first thermoelectric material contains at least Bi and Te while the performance index of the same is maximized at the low-temperature side of an employed temperature region. The sintered body 3a of second thermoelectric material contains at least Bi and Te while the containing amount of Te is more than that of the first thermoelectric material and the performance index of the same is maximized at the high-temperature side of the employed temperature region. These thermoelectric elements 1 are connected to the lower electrode and the upper electrode through solder, whose melting point is lower than that of the solder 4, to obtain the thermoelectric module.
