PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper displaying while a decrease of an information amount is suppressed even when a character string receiver 12 receives a character string exceeding the maximum number of display characters of a display 13. SOLUTION: In a character string transmitter 11, a character string generation means 16 generates a character string to transmit. When the maximum number of display characters of the display 13 is set M, a display character selecting information generation means 17 generates display character selecting information as the information which M-pieces of characters among the characters of the character string to select and display. A transmitter means 18 transmits the character string and the display character selecting information relating to the character string. In a character string receiver 12, a receiving means 22 receives the character string and the display character selecting information relating to the character string. A character selecting means 23 selects M-pieces of characters from among the characters included in the received character string based on the display character selecting information.
