摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prescribed slack rate to an optical fiber cable in correspondence with change of sizes in a suspended wire and the optical fiber cable without replacing a capstan. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a self-supporting optical cable 1, the suspended wire 2 and optical fiber cable 3 are arranged in parallel and sent forth so that a cross-section calabash-shaped sheath 4 is collectively extruded for coating these circumferences. By using the capstan 31 for winding the self-supporting optical cable 1 that is extruded and coated by the sheath 4, multiple kinds of slack providing grooves 35 comprising a suspended wire winding surface 33 for winding the suspended wire 2, and an optical fiber cable winding surface 34 for winding the optical fiber cable 3, are formed on the outer circumferential surface of the capstan 31. The slack providing grooves 35 are selected so as to provide a predetermined slack rate in correspondence with the sizes of the suspended wire and optical fiber cable, and the self-supporting optical cable is wound up.
