PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmental difference detector with a simple configuration, hardly failing, with a low manufacturing cost, and capable of quickly measuring a desired environmental difference with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The environmental difference detector of this invention includes a substrate 12 including a surface with a ring-like surface acoustic wave circular circuit 12a, a surface acoustic wave excitation/receiving means 14 for exciting the surface acoustic wave to the circular circuit and receiving the circulated surface acoustic wave, a sensitive film 16 provided in the circular circuit and changing an elastic property according to changes in an adjacent environment, a surface acoustic wave element 18, a velocity/strength measurement means 22 for measuring the circulation velocity and the strength of the surface acoustic wave from an electric signal generated by the surface acoustic wave excitation/receiving means receiving the circulated surface acoustic wave, and an environment evaluation means 24 for evaluating the environment adjacent to the sensitive film from the circulation velocity and the strength measured by the velocity/strength measurement means.
