PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating apparatus for treating organic waste in which a moisture adjusting material is not necessitated, the volume of organic waste can be reduced and the aggregation of organic waste is promoted. SOLUTION: This method for heat-treating organic waste is carried out by blowing hot air against the object which is to be treated and is agitated in a rotary drum 1 of an apparatus constituted so that the object 2 which is to be treated and consists of hydrous organic waste is housed in the rotary drum 1 having an adjustment part 8 for agitating/crushing the object 2 to be treated on the inside, the housed object 2 is crushed and agitated and the moisture of the crushed/agitated object 2 is adjusted. When the object 2 to be treated is heated, hot air is blown against a concentrated dynamic portion 2a formed in a fluidized dynamic state by concentrating the object 2 to be treated at the predetermined position in the rotary drum 1 by rotating the rotary drum. At that time, the direction of the hot air to be blown is controlled on the hot air introduction side of the rotary drum 1 so that hot air is blown against the concentrated dynamic portion 2a.
