PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a presser foot lifting device for sewing machines which reduces the number of parts by sharing the same drive source to move an intermittent presser foot vertically and to move an outer presser foot vertically. SOLUTION: The presser foot lifting device for sewing machines is equipped with the intermittent presser foot 11 which is provided to move in the vertical direction and presses a part in the neighborhood of a needle penetration part of cloth to be sewn, the outer presser foot 14 which is provided to move in the vertical direction and presses the cloth to be sewn in the periphery of the intermittent presser foot 11, an intermittent presser foot moving mechanism 13 which moves the intermittent presser foot 14 at least in one of the directions, upward or downward, and an outer presser foot moving mechanism 15 which moves the outer presser foot 14 at least in one of the directions, upward or downward.
