摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene carrier having three elements of inhibition of biodegradation of a nucleic acid, pharmacokinetics having high organ- or tissue-selectivity, and high expression efficiency of the gene, and to provide a gene delivery technique utilizing the gene carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The cationic gold nanoparticle or the polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified cationic gold nanoparticle having a cationic surface is produced by allowing cysteamine or the cysteamine and the PEG to coexist when reducing chloroauric acid by using sodium borohydride or the like to grow the gold nanoparticle and simultaneously to modify the surface. The gold nanoparticle-nucleic acid complex or the PEG-modified cationic gold nanoparticle-nucleic acid complex, capable of delivering the nucleic acid to the interior of a cell or an in vivo tissue is produced by bonding the resultant gold nanoparticle to the nucleic acid.
