<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for reducing and removing nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas at a low temperature of about 150°C. <P>SOLUTION: A gas passage is formed with ceramic having micro voids of 10 μm to 90 μm cross-section, electrodes are arranged on the inner part and outer part of the gas passage, a high voltage is applied between both electrodes and plasma discharge is generated. At the same time, gas of oxygen concentration ≤1% is blown from the surrounding of the gas passage, thereby, nitrogen monoxide in the exhaust gas is oxidized into nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen dioxide adsorbed on the wall surface is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
