PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and user-friendly freshness-keeping tablet for farm products/garden products continuously generating carbon dioxide gas in small amounts, reducing ethylene concentration in the farm products/garden products-existing atmosphere so as to enable freshness keeping of the farm products/garden products: and to provide a method for keeping freshness using the tablet.

SOLUTION: The tablet comprises at least a carbonate and an aromatic organic acid, and generates carbon dioxide gas.
