PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching device of a pressing operation type which can always be operated smoothly and of which waterproofing will not be damaged for over a long term. SOLUTION: A cover member 10 is pressed into and fixed to the upper end part in a contact housing part 2, and a flat plate part 11a of a waterproofing rubber cover 11, which is placed on this cover member 10 and on the peripheral part of an aperture edge 2a of the lower case 1 is pressed down by the upper case 12 and pinched. A plurality of a locking ribs 10c are protrusively installed at the upper face of the cover member 10 and these locking ribs 10c are kept, by being fitted into the waterproofing rubber cover 11. Furthermore, a swelling part 11b of the waterproofing rubber cover 11 is adhered and fixed to the tip part of the pressed protrusion 7 of a slider 6, and a pressed protrusion 7 is inserted through a guide hole 10a of the cover member 10 and its elevating movement is guided. A movable contact 8 is mounted on the slider 6, and this movable contact 8 is contacted with and separated from the fixed contacts 3-5, in the contact housing part 2 accompanied by the elevating movement of the slider 6.
