PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressing roller which is free from permanent deformation, is low in hardness and excellent in heat resistance, and ensures uniform nip width in its lengthwise direction without being influenced by the degree of the accuracy of other components. SOLUTION: Silicone gels (2a) are disposed in an elastic layer (1) covering the periphery of a metal core (3) such that the silicone gels (2a) are continuous in the lengthwise direction of the metal core (3) and discontinuous in the circumferential direction of the metal core (3), thereby solving the problems mentioned above.
