PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for producing a polybenzoxazol resin precursor having larger molecular weight than conventional ones, and for producing a polybenzoxazol resin excellent in heat resistance, mechanical strength, chemical resistance, optical characteristics, electrical properties and the like. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the polybenzoxazole resin precursor comprises mixing a diamine compound, a dicarboxylic acid dihalide and a solvent to obtain reaction mixture while maintaining a liquid temperature at≤0°C, and continuing the reaction for a predetermined period of time while maintaining the liquid temperature of the reaction mixture at≤0°C. The polybenzoxazol resin is obtained by performing cyclization reaction on the precursor to remove water or silanol. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
