PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper having a simple configuration and capable of adjusting magnitude of damping force by corresponding to a travel position. SOLUTION: An annular body 8 made of a non-magnetic material is provided between an upper side cylindrical body 7a and a lower side cylindrical body 7b made of a magnetic material, and a piston 16 is stored in a first chamber 3 of a cylinder 2 so as to move vertically. The piston 16 is composed of a guide member 17 forming a flow passage 20 in an outer peripheral part and a piston main body 18 made of a magnetic material, and a clearance 19 constituting a flow passage 21 together with the flow passage 20 is formed between the piston main body 18 and the cylinder 2. A permanent magnet 15 is provided on an outer peripheral side of the cylinder 2 corresponding to the annular body 8. Facing situation of the piston main body 18 for the annular body 8 and the cylindrical body 7 is changed in accordance with travel of the piston 16, and size of magnetic field acting on magnetic fluid 6 is changed. For this reason, viscosity of magnetic fluid 6 is changed, and magnitude of damping force acting on the piston 16 is changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
