PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative ion generator capable of being automatically and correctly operated/stopped in accordance with a pollution state of air. SOLUTION: When an automatic operation is set, a control part 18 corrects a resistance value of a gas sensor 16 by the gas sensor 16 installed in a body 4, a correction part 18b for correcting the resistance value of the gas sensor 16 in response to the change of temperature and humidity in operating the body 4, and a delay count part 18c for counting a time until ambient temperature and humidity are stabilized when an operation condition is changed, whereby the body 4 can be correctly operated/stopped without malfunction.
