PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass disk substrate for a magnetic disk which can manufacture a magnetic disk whose fly stiction and thermal asperity trouble are sufficiently prevented even when the glass disk substrate is made small in diameter for use for a small-sized hard disk driven that can be mounted on portable or onboard equipment such as a mobile telephone, a digital camera, a PDA, and a car navigation device. SOLUTION: A chamfered surface along a peripheral edge of a main surface is formed on an end surface and texture is formed on at least the chamfered surface on the end surface nearly in a circumferential direction of a disk to stop particles from being produced from the end surface, thereby preventing arcing when a magnetic layer and a protection layer are formed. Further, even when the external diameter of the magnetic disk is made small, or≤50 mm, the texture formed on the end surface stabilizes flotation of a magnetic head on an outer peripheral side where loading/unloading operations are performed.
