PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil strainer capable of restraining the occurrence of aeration with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This oil strainer has a resin upper case forming a communicating port to a pump in an upper side surface and having an upper flange on the outer periphery, a resin lower case forming an oil suction port in an under surface and having a lower flange joined to the upper flange of the upper case, and a filtering member arranged in a space formed by joining the upper and lower cases and filtering oil flowing to the communicating port from the suction port. The oil strainer is constituted so that the filtering member and the upper and lower flanges are inclined rightward or leftward in the advancing direction of a vehicle; and a distance up to the communicating port from the left end of the filtering member, is set substantially equal to a distance up to the communicating port from the right end of the filtering member.
