PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous emulsion containing a vinyl acetate polymer having excellent yellowing resistance without using a compound containing an NH group. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a yellowing resistant aqueous emulsion comprises the contact of 100 pts.wt. (solid basis) of an aqueous emulsion containing a vinyl acetate polymer such as a vinyl acetate homopolymer or an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with 10-80 pts.wt. of an ion exchange resin having an anion-exchange group.
