PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can surely detect the kind of sheets in sheet transfer paths without the number of sheet detectors set inside being increased, and to provide a sheet kind confirmation method. SOLUTION: A combination processing apparatus 1 detects by using a second image read sensor 12 that a check S or a card C remains in the first sheet transfer path P1 or the second sheet transfer path P2. Also the combination processing apparatus 1 judges whether the detected sheet is the check S or the card C according to a detection part at the second image read sensor 12, and notifies a host computer 110 of the result.
