[Also in Group XXXI] A motor vehicle body has a front portion 1 wherein the bonnet takes the form of a lid 8, Fig. 3, arranged to be pivoted upwardly to give unobstructed access to a compartment accommodating the engine 11 and at least the essential accessories such as the radiator 12, Fig. 1, fuel tank 13, and battery 14. The lid 8 has apertures which when the lid is closed coincide with the lamps 19, 20, the lamp lenses being preferably mounted in the lid. The main accessories 12, 13, and 14 are preferably mounted as shown, the battery and radiator being fixed upon internal wheel casings 15, 16 and a fuse box 17 is positioned between them. Cooling air passes through slots 23 and is guided by sheet-metal deflectors (not shown), and by the disposition of the accessories and member 26 through the radiator and slots 25 and additional slots (not shown) to the windscreen 28. Fig. 3 shows the radiator 12a so disposed that no special air guiding means other than louvres 37 are necessary to warm the windscreen. The handle 34 is provided with a rubber buffer 36 where it rests against the top part 35 when the lid is open, and a tool kit &c. space, as shown dotted, Fig. 1, may be provided over each wheel. |
