ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOSITION, AND PREVENTING AND/OR TREATING AGENT OF FISH NODOSITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a drug without showing any cross resistance with conventional drugs, and applicable to fishery culture as the drug or feed additive.

SOLUTION: An extract of Polygonum sachalinense, isolated vanicoside A and its salt are found to have each a potent antibacterial power against fish pathogenic bacteria and also show the antibacterial activity against Photobacterium damselae subsp. Piscicida showing resistance to conventional drugs. An antibacterial composition containing the vanicoside A or its salt as a main component, a preventing and/or treating agent of fish nodosity and a feed additive containing the vanicoside A or its salt are provided.
