<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steadily adjust the alignment of a belt body, such as an intermediate transfer belt with high accuracy, using a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, having the intermediate transfer belt 31 stretched between a plurality of rollers, is provided with a steering arm 101 which turns around a swing shaft 112. Bearing holders 115 and 125 slidable to the steering arm 101 support the tension roller 33 so that the roller 33 rotates freely. The bearing holders 115 and 125 are energized to the intermediate transfer belt by springs 114 and 124 so that the intermediate transfer belt 31 is stretched tight. The release cam 111 is supported by the swing shaft 112 so as to freely rotate, the release cam 111 being brought into contact with a slider 113, 123 which slides bearing holder 115, 125 and being separated therefrom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
