<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector for a support of a structure, which dispenses with manual mowing work by preventing the luxuriant growth of weeds around the support of the structure such as a guard rail, and which prevents damage to the support and the occurrence of a nicked edge or a rebounding accident, when the weeds are mown by means of a mowing machine. <P>SOLUTION: This protector is formed of a tubular part 2 which is composed of a flexible material such as a rubber or an elastomer and which is mounted on/made to cover the support, and a flange part 3 which is circumferentially provided in the horizontal direction from a lower part of the tubular part 2 and which prevents the luxuriant growth of the weeds; and the tubular part 2 and the flange part 3 are each provided with a slit-like opening 4. When the protector is mounted on the support, elasticity and a restoring force, which are possessed by the flexible material and a shape, are utilized; the slit-like opening 4 is opened to the right and left sides so that the support can be internally taken in; and the opening 4 is closed by the restoring force. Thus, the protector can be easily mounted. Consequently, only mechanical mowing work has only to be done by the mowing machine because the luxuriant growth of the weeds around the support is prevented; the support is not damaged even if the mowing machine hits against the tubular part; the cutting edge of the mowing machine is not nicked; and workability and safety are improved because the rebounding accident of the mowing machine is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
