PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical device, such as a wavelength dispersion correction device or the like, whose structure is simple, with which the wavelength dispersion correction characteristic is adjustable, and the power consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: The optical device is provided with an input side optical fiber 202, a collimator lens 203 which turns the output light of the optical fiber into a parallel light beam, and a focusing lens 204 which is arranged opposite to the collimator lens 203 at a prescribed distance and is optically coupled with an output side optical fiber 205. Parallel substrates 207<SB>1</SB>through 207<SB>m</SB>are arranged with an adjusted insertion depth in a parallel beam transmission region 206. A variety of characteristics, such as the wavelength dispersion correction characteristic, are realized because different optical paths are formed.
