PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric switch capable of highly accurately and easily detecting objects of a specific color. SOLUTION: At teaching processing, a signal processing control part 43 selects one or a plurality of light projecting elements among a plurality of light projecting elements 42a, 42b, 42c on the basis of the difference between quantities of light received, a difference between a first quantity of light received and a second quantity of light received as light projecting elements for detection and computes threshold values for detection for detecting objects to be detected on the basis of one quantity of light received or the total of the plurality of quantities of light received corresponding to the selected one or the plurality of light projecting elements for detection. At an operation of detecting the objects to be detected, the signal processing control part 43 determines the state of detection of the objects to be detected on the basis of the one quantity of light received or the sum total of the plurality of quantities of light received corresponding to the selected one or the plurality of light projecting elements for detection and the set threshold values for detection.
