PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an austenitic stainless steel having high irradiation resistance and reactor internals constituted of such material having high irradiation resistance in terms of an increase in the reliability of a nuclear plant and assurance of the economical efficiency of nuclear power generation. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the austenitic stainless steel containing≥0.01mass% carbon comprises subjecting the stainless steel products to a solution heat treatment at 900 to 1,200°C, then rapidly cooling the steel products down to≤450°C, and further subjecting the steel products to aging treatment under the conditions that a thermal aging temperature (T<SB>A</SB>(K)) and heat treatment time (t<SB>A</SB>(sec)) satisfy relational expression (1): 3×10<SP>10</SP>×exp(-0.028×T<SB>A</SB>)<t<SB>A</SB><7×10<SP>8</SP>×exp(-0.022×T<SB>A</SB>).
