PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new preparation method which enables a high-quality 2-oxindole derivative, i.e., an important intermediate for various drugs, dyes, etc., to be prepared by a simple operation with a high yield without using a special raw material or the like. SOLUTION: The new preparation method is characterized by that, after a reaction of preparing a 2-oxindole derivative by denitrifying a hydrazone body of corresponding isatin by a Wolff-Kischnar reduction reaction, the resultant reaction liquid is subjected to crystallization while being kept alkaline and then is taken out, thus giving the 2-oxindole derivative with a very high purity.
