PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable transmission ratio steering device reducing a collision sound at the time of unlocking a lock mechanism effectively. SOLUTION: This variable transmission ratio steering device includes: an input shaft transmitting a turning force of a steering wheel 11; an output shaft transmitting the turning force to steering gears 17, 18; a transmission ratio variable mechanism 30 varying the transmission ratio between the input shaft and the output shaft by the drive of an electric motor 34; a lock holder 36 connected to the rotary shaft 35 of the electric motor 34 while having a part 37 to be engaged; a lock lever 52 having an engagement part 52a that can be engaged with the part 37 to be engaged of the lock holder 36, which is movable between a lock position where the engagement part 52a is engaged with the part 37 to be engaged of the lock holder 36 and an unlock position where the engagement part 52a is apart from the part 37 to be engaged; a driving means 70 driving the lock lever 52; and a stopper member 80 mechanically locking the movement of the lock lever 52 at the unlock position through a shock absorbing material 84.
