PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kneader constituted so as to eliminate the cleaning process in a kneading process by preventing the ejection of a filler from the gap between a mixing tank and a pressure lid, to stabilize the compounding with a filler, to prevent the dispersion failure caused by the falling and mixing of filler after the completion of kneading and to achieve the enhancement of the dispersion uniformity and stability of quality of a kneading material. SOLUTION: The kneader is equipped with a mixing tank 1 having a cocoon-shaped cross section and housing the kneading material, two rotors 2 provided side by side to knead the kneading material housed in the mixing tank 1 and the pressure lid 3 slidably inserted into the upper opening part of the mixing tank 1. An expansible sheet material 4 is provided between the upper outer periphery of the pressure lid 3 and the opening edge peripheral part 1a of the mixing tank 1 under tension to seal the gap between the mixing tank 1 and the pressure lid 3.
