An invention pertains to the mechanical refining of work surfaces of grinding facilities, particularly to grinding belts, which are used for finishing of wood particle boards. The method is as follows: the grinding belt is positioned on drums 2 of the device (fig.1), engines 9 are switched on and cleansing agent is applied with sprayers 14 and 15: firstly, an alkaline agent with the concentration of 10-12%, and afterward - an acid agent with the concentration of 5-15%, while the work surface of the grinding belt is treated with the brush 21, which takes part in oscillatory and rotary motion. The revolutions of the drive shaft of the driving gear of the brush are calculated according to the following formula: n=R/(?dt) where n is number of revolutions of the shaft, rpm: d is shaft's diameter of the belt driving gear, mm; R is radius of the abrasive brush, mm; t is time (period of oscillations) required to reciprocate the brush across the entire width of the belt, min. The speed of brush oscillations is set within limits 0,3-0,6 m/sec, while the brush rotation speed does not exceed 30-40 rpm. The device offered comprises: a belt-moving unit in the form of two hollow drums 2, which shafts 5 are secured in cantilever on the stand so that tension of the abrasive belt 3 can be adjusted; the spring-supported flat operating unit in form of flat circular brush 21 coupled with rotary drive and mounted on carrier/guide 16 in order the back-and-forth motion of the brush 21 can be implemented across the moving belt at an angle of 50-700 with an axis; and a unit 14 and 15 for the injection of cleansing fluids, which is formed as two branch pipes placed across the direction of moving grinding belt. Said carrier 16 is formed as a bell-crank, the smaller its arm being provided with counter-weight and said brush being mounted on the carrier 16 so that it could be possible to control an amplitude of arm's oscillation.
