<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system capable of adding or changing monitored targets, without correcting the definition information inside a host computer. <P>SOLUTION: In a remote monitoring system by which a remote monitoring device 30 for monitoring the state of monitored equipment 40 in a remote location is remotely monitored by a central host computer 10 and a monitoring terminal 20 via a network 50, the host computer 10 obtains point-number information from the remote monitoring device 30, with the point-number information comprising the point number and the address of the monitored target.
