PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a solid fuel, reducing crushing power load, without having the deterioration of working environment accompanying with the scattering of dust, further contributing the reduction of forming power unit cost, also without decreasing productivity and without consuming useless power. SOLUTION: This method for producing the solid fuel is constituted by crushing waste plastics and recovered waste paper among the waste plastics and combustible waste materials selected from town waste materials, industrial waste materials, etc., then adding a prescribed amount of carbonized materials obtained by carbonization-treating the combustible waste materials to the crushed mixture, supplying them to a compressing/forming machine to compress and form them. By the addition of the prescribed amount of the carbonized material, its forming property is improved. Since the carbonized material is not put in at the same time with the crushing of the waste plastics and waste paper, the load used for mixing and crushing is decreased by that amount, and there is no scatter caused by powder formation in the mixing/crushing of the carbonized materials.
