ENGINE PROVIDED WITH EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM WITH DIAGNOSIC SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine provided with an EGR system capable of correctly and quickly detecting trouble in the EGR system by being correctly interlocked with action of the EGR system including an EGR valve to detect EGR gas temperature with high precision either when the EGR valve is close or opened. SOLUTION: This engine is provided with the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system to recirculate EGR gas composed of part of exhaust gas from the engine through an EGR passage that is opened and closed by the EGR valve to an intake passage. Close to a combined part of the EGR passage with the intake passage, an EGR gas temperature sensor is provided and an EGR diagnostic system is provided to determine if trouble exists or not in the EGR system including the EGR valve based on the detected value of the EGR gas temperature inputted from the EGR gas temperature sensor.
