Baking oven (1) has a heat source for producing circulating air and a guide duct for circulating hot air between the heat source and the oven. The guide duct has a choke element between its supply and return sections. The supply duct has a multiplicity of through openings to the baking space, while the baking space has a multiplicity of connection openings to the return duct. The design of the openings is such that their flow resistance is much greater than that of the supply duct with an open choke element.
