The lining has a central component (3) over which a hinge-like arrangement (4, 6) is provided in such a manner that two neighboring components (5, 7) are connected. The assembly has an attachment in the passenger area (100) over the hinge with a movement of the components (3, 5, 7) being relative to each other. The central component lines a rear wall of the passenger area over a hinge-like arrangement such as an armrest (5) with a connecting unit (7) connected to neighboring components. An independent claim is included for a method for the assembly of a lining in a passenger area of a vehicle.
