PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond scriber whose cutting edge is excellent in wear resistance and hard to break, and which has a long service life and is reduced in the manufacturing cost, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The diamond scriber uses, as a cutter, a single crystal diamond with the top face of a polygon and a polygonal truncated pyramid shape part equipped with side faces, wherein the top face of the cutter is ä100} or ä111} plane of the crystal plane of a single crystal diamond, the side faces of the cutter are curved, and the sides of the top face, formed by the top face and respective side faces, and the ridge line formed by the side face and the side face are each curved. The method for manufacturing the diamond scriber comprises attaching a single crystal diamond to a shaft-like shank and forming the cutter having characteristics mentioned above by polishing the diamond by a specified method.
