PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a saturation charge signal amount in a still mode and to eliminate a temporal constraint in a signal processing system regarding white balance processing for realizing normal color reproduction. SOLUTION: A method is disclosed for driving a solid-state imaging apparatus provided with: a photoelectric conversion part in which pixels each having a photoelectric conversion element and a color filter are arranged two-dimensionally; a charge transferring part for transferring signal charge stored in the photoelectric conversion part; and an overflow drain for discharging unwanted charge stored in the photoelectric conversion part to a board side, wherein the method has: a charge storage period for storing signal charge into the photoelectric conversion element; an exposure period including charge discharge period for discharging unwanted charge stored in the photoelectric conversion element just before the charge storage period; and a white balance measuring period for measuring a white balance from the signal obtained by performing temporary exposure before the exposure period and storing signal charge into the photoelectric conversion part, and a bias voltage that is equal in the charge storage period and the white balance measuring period is applied to a semiconductor board.
