摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orientation division vertical alignment type LCD and its driving method with which a moving picture of high quality can be displayed and electronic equipment equipped with such an LCD. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels each having a 1st electrode 11, a 2nd electrode 12 opposed to the 1st electrode, and a vertical orientation type liquid crystal layer 13 provided between the 1st electrode 11 and 2nd electrode 12. This liquid crystal display device further has a beltlike 1st orientation restricting means 21 which is provided on the side of the 1st electrode 11 of the liquid crystal layer 13 and has a 1st width W1, a beltlike 2nd orientation restricting means 22 which is provided on the side of the 2nd electrode 12 of the liquid crystal layer 13 and has a 2nd width W2, and a beltlike liquid crystal area 13A which is prescribed between the 1st orientation restricting means 21 and 2nd orientation restricting means 22 and has a 3rd width W3, being 2 to 15μm.
