Metal sandwich structure to be used for creation of three-dimensional shapes, produced by heating metal foam while being compressed

The sandwich sheet is assembled of two outer layers (2) and a central core of metal foam (1) created by using a heat activated inciting substance. The core (1) and the outer layers (2) are permanently joined in the process. When a three-dimensional shape is to be formed the sheet has to be heated, ideally slightly below the melting point, in order to prevent the foam core (1) from cracking partially. The heated foam (1) is folded into shallow, still connected layers (1b).
