A piperidine derivative represented by the following general formula (I) (wherein -C(=O)-Z represents -C(=O)-CH2-, -C(=O)-C(CH3)2-, -C(=O)-NH-, -C(=O)-O-, -C(=O)-S-, -C(=O)-CH2CH2-, -C(=O)-CH=CH-, -C(=O)-CH2O-, -C(=O)-CH2S-, -C(=O)-CH2CH2CH2-, or -C(=O)-NR<8>CH2-; R<1> represents hydrogen, (un)substituted lower alkyl, etc.; R<2> represents hydrogen or hydroxy; R<3> represents hydrogen, (un)substituted lower alkyl, etc.; R<5> represents hydrogen, hydroxy, etc.; R<6> represents hydrogen, hydroxy, (un)substituted lower alkyl, etc.; R<7> represents hydrogen, halogeno, (un)substituted lower alkyl, etc.; n and k each independently is an integer of 0 to 2; and ---- represents a single bond or represents a double bond in cooperation with R<4>, provided that when ---- is a single bond, then R<4> represents hydrogen, hydroxy, etc.) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of the derivative. They have, e.g., antagonistic activity against, e.g., an NR2B subunit-containing N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) type glutamic acid receptor (NR2B/NMDA receptor).
