PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a PDP in which an image display of a superior quality is possible, by suppressing non-uniformity of the "appearance" outside of the image display area and by maintaining brightness balance of the whole display image. SOLUTION: In a plasma display panel having a plurality of black stripes, the black stripes have a wide breadth part, of which the stripe width becomes wide, without contacting with each other at the outside of the image display area in its extension direction.
