PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens device with which a photographer can start taking a photograph rapidly after turning on a power source. SOLUTION: The lens device has a control means which performs relative position control in a state where the absolute position of an optical element stored before turning off the power source is set as the absolute position thereof after turning on the power source when the control of the optical element is switched to the relative position control before completing initialization that the absolute position of the optical element is initialized by manual driving control after turning on the power source.
